eBay This is a vintage half gallon milk bottle from Dayton, Ohio (Montgomery County). This bottle stands 10-1/2 inches tall and features orange pyroglaze. There are no chips or cracks and the pyro is in very nice condition. Additional cleaning is always suggested. See pics. The orange pyroglaze reads as follows: Front: HIMES BROS. MEADOW GOLD MILK Back: EXTRA CREAMY RICHNESS IN HOMOGENIZED MILK It is embossed around the base with: HALF GALLON LIQUID SEALED BB48 A little history: 1908: Walter Clarence HIMES at age 20 and brother, Andrew "Harry" HIMES started the HIMES BROS. DAIRY at 2114 W. Third St. Dayton, OH. 1922: They expanded to 1537 Germantown St. Dayton, OH where they had one of the finest and most completely equipped dairy plants in Dayton, employing upwards of 100 people and distributing about 20,000 quarts of milk every day. The milk was secured from various farms within a radius of 25 miles from Dayton. 1929: The Himes Bros. Dairy was incorporated as HIMES BROS. DAIRY Since then Walter Clarence HIMES was President & General Manager of the dairy.His brother, Harry (Andrew Harrison) was Secretary and Treasurer and C. V. Huenke, Vice President. Hard work, exceptional business and executive ability and an enviable reputation for probity and fair dealing have enabled the two brothers to build up a business, bearing the family name, which has become one of the largest and most modernly equipped diary establishments in Dayton, OH.
