unkfx325jds850 Here is a vintage, quart milk jar, embossed Absolutely Pure Milk (large picture of a man milking a cow) The Milk Protector. Embossed on back in slug plate: To Be Used Only As Designated. Milk & Cream Jar. Embossed on base: Thatcher MF'G Co. Potsdam, N.Y. This is an original, vintage, circa 1886-1890, Thatcher milk jar. Complete with original glass lid embossed: Pat'd. April 23, '86. Also has original metal clamp to hold on the glass lid. Hard to find complete like this. Guaranteed original, not a reproduction. Jar has a slight Sun Colored Amethyst (SCA) tint to it. Excellent one, looks great on the shelf. Insurance costs are included in the postage costs on this listing. Condition: Jar is almost Near Mint. Very clean with just a tiny bit of light wear, minor. There is a very tiny bruise on the reverse heel, very minor (see close up picture). NO other chips, cracks or dings. The glass lid is original. The lid has a chip on the underside and a bruise/small crack. See pictures above. Very hard to find these lids in Mint condition. This one looks great. Metal clamp has some light oxidation. All in all, I grade this one an 8.5 to 9 on a scale of 1 to 10.
