unkfx305jds650 Here is a vintage, quart milk jar, embossed Absolutely Pure Milk (large picture of a man milking a cow) The Milk Protector. Embossed on back in slug plate: To Be Used Only As Designated. Milk & Cream Jar. Embossed on base: Thatcher MFG Co. Potsdam, N.Y. This is an original, vintage, circa 1886-1890, Thatcher milk jar. Complete with original glass lid embossed: Pat'd. April 23, '86. Also has original metal clamp to hold on the glass lid. Hard to find complete like this. Guaranteed original, not a reproduction. Nice one, looks great on the shelf. Insurance costs are included in the postage costs on this listing. Note in the last pictures there is a quart and a pint Thatcher milk jar shown. This listing is ONLY for the QUART size jar. See my other listings for the PINT size jar which is being sold separately. Condition: Jar is Very Good, very clean with just a tiny bit of light wear, minor. As is typical with these early Thatcher jars, in the dimples where the wire clamp sits, there are slight stress bruises on both sides (see close up pictures above). NO chips, cracks or other dings. See pictures above. The glass lid is original and and is the CORRECT larger Quart size lid - often you see the quarts with the smaller Pint size lid. The lid has a couple small nicks on the edge and a small flat flake on the bottom side. Lid has some wear from use and light hazing. See pictures above. Metal clamp has some light oxidation.
